My story has been a long, drawn-out process at this point and one that I'm nervous about sharing. For many years, I've suffered from depression, anxiety, flat feet and I don't cycle monthly as most women do. I struggle getting out of bed on good days and facing the daunting task of going to work can be difficult between anxiety and depression. Finally, I took a step in the right direction and went to see a doctor. In a short amount of time, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, severe sleep apnea, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS) and possibly Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
My father and two of my brothers already suffer from Type 2 diabetes as well as complications. I want to show them and myself that I can reverse my trajectory and lead a stronger, happier life. I am working with a nutritionist specializing in hormonal imbalances in women. With her assistance, I can reduce the symptoms of PCOS and reduce the risk it poses to my blood sugar. The supplements are expensive and I struggle to afford them.
I want to have the energy to live again. I want to get out and enjoy my life. I want to regain the passion for things that I've lost along the way and feel like a real person again. Any assistance for my journey is welcome.
